The Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation is an amazing charitable organization dedicated to providing resources to children who are victims of domestic violence. In addition to providing "safe havens" for children to come to and receive counseling and a safe physical space to spend time at...they are educating the general public about the horrors and prevalence of abuse in the home.


























This charity represents both an opportunity to support wonderful & important work as well as the chance of a lifetime for a lifelong New York Yankee fan to meet and spend time with their heroes. The foundation gala which is held annually (the past few years at Chelsea Piers) rewards supporters of the charity with an amazing evening hosted by Bob Costas, dozens of "A" list celebrities and honors past Yankee teams. This year the 98' World Series Championship team was reunited and honored.


























I had a chance to meet & speak with some of my heroes including: Don Mattingly, Joe Torre, Joe Girardi, Derek Jeter, Tino Martinez, Bernie Williams, Hideki Matsui, Andy Pettitte, Mariano Rivera, Orlando "El Duke" Hernandez, Scott Brosius, David Cone, Jorge Posada, Jeff Nelson, Bob Gibson, Yogi Berra...and many more.


























In addition, I had the pleasure of sitting next to Steve Kroft - award winning journalist that has been a staple on "60 Minutes" for the past 20 years. He was very down-to-earth and we spent 20- minutes discuss the job market and the challenges faced by The Talent Magnet is this scary economy.


























Despite the challenges and problems we all are faced with...there are so many people (especially children) whose problems are far worse. It felt great to contribute to an organization that is doing so much to change the cycle of domestic violence and provide kids with the tools to get help!!!


























During this coming holiday season, I encourage all of you to look into organizations like the Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation to see how you could assist by volunteering or contributing...even a few bucks.

DO YOU THINK THE RECESSION IS OVER?

So...I guess we can all breathe a sigh of relief...according to the "experts"; we are coming out of the recession! Economists and leaders of industry are appearing on all types of news programs, websites and publications - declaring the end of this economic struggle. Apparently, some of the banks the government gave billions to - are beginning to show signs of stabilizing. In addition, "PRODUCTION" numbers look to be on the rise. However...UNEMPLOYMENT remains HIGH...and NEW CLAIMS are continuing to increase. The nearly 14 month period of DOWNSIZING, LAY-OFFS, RESTRUCTURING has resulted in the WORST JOB MARKET IN NEARLY 30 years! Yes...it does appear that the FIRING has slowed considerably. Unfortunately, companies have not yet begun to HIRE at a rate that will put even the slightest dent in joblessness.
