THE MAGNET IS "ATTRACTING" & EMPLOYERS ARE REACTING...

The Talent Magnet has been busy introducing some really exceptional candidates to the most sought after employers in NYC...and the country for that matter!!!

The past few weeks our hard work has resulted in the successful match of more than a half dozen unique candidates with employers that are: in the industry they targeted, provided them with the title and scope of responsibility they desired and paid them an average of 10K more in base pay!!!

The reason for our success is rooted in our tremendous listening skills! It sounds simple...but the biggest complaint I hear from both my clients & candidates is that the recruiters they are working with...do not listen to them. Clients are frustrated by candidate referrals that are made that lack the skill set, interpersonal skills or education they specified as NECESSARY in order to be considered. Candidates are repeatedly frustrated by the calls they get & pressure they receive to pursue opportunities they are NOT interested in. My "competitors"...make the mistake of trying to make candidates fit the job specs they have...rather than look for the job they WANT!

I always tell my candidates that most people that are in my profession are lazy. This is the reason that I am able to take clients away from them and have much stronger relationships with jobseekers. Most recruiters are "resume flingers". They relentlessly email resumes to HR contacts & Hiring Managers...hoping that someone will bite. They are NOT truly recruiting or providing a valuable service for their clients. In fact, they are doing a disservice to their candidates by "mass marketing" them and potentially "devaluing" them in the eyes of prospective employers.

As a result, my clients are ONLY introduced to suitable candidates...and my candidates are ONLY being sent for interviews for jobs they have described as be IDEAL!!! There are no pressure tactics applied or "creative" selling being done. I just out-hustle my competition and work harder to make sure both my candidates and clients are getting what they want. I often tell my candidates that they may receive fewer calls from me than from other recruiters...however, when I do call, it will be to present an opportunity they have described as being IDEAL!!!

The job market is continuing to heat up!!! We have "signed-on" several new clients that are in industries my candidates have expressed as areas of interest/focus.

The INTERACTIVE arena continues to sizzle. We have also been engaged by several new
ADVERTISING AGENCIES. It seems that as the economy continues to heal & grow...more money is being spent on ADVERTISING/MARKETING. We have bolstered our roster in the COSMETICS/BEAUTY arena and have recently added one of the most prestigious names in LUXURY to our client list!!!

Zack Steiner (Syracuse -Newhouse Alum...and Account Executive)at The Talent Magnet is establishing himself as a "force to be reckoned with" in the world of recruitment. In only a few months, Zack has established strong partnerships with dynamic industry leaders in FASHION, RETAIL, ONLINE MARKETING & ADVERTISING!!! Being a May 2005 grad enables Zack to relate to many of the challenges his candidates face in their job search. It was only a six months ago, that he was in the same boat - seeking a professional home! His desire to make a "perfect match" coupled with his enthusiasm, energy and "model looks" have made him a "fan favorite" with candidates and clients alike!!!

The interview/hiring process has become extremely involved & complicated. It truly helps to have an AGENT/PARTNER to help navigate the job market and who has your best interests at heart. It is RESPECT, DIGNITY & INTEGRITY that characterize the manner in which The Talent Magnet conducts business and describes how we treat the people we work with.

Although the job market is buzzing...you still need to bring your "A" game to the search/interview process!!! This means being prepared for interviews - clearly demonstrating what distinguishes you from others and most importantly seeking out & interviewing for APPROPRIATE/SUITABLE positions. I'm always amazed by candidates who tell me what type of companies/positions they want to avoid...then I ask where they have been interviewing...and they tell me companies they just mentioned as NOT desirable or for positions they really DID NOT WANT. Being flexible is a good thing. However, lacking focus or professional direction will cause you to interview for spots you do not want. Successful interviews happen when I introduce a candidate to a company that WANTS THEIR EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND, PREVIOUS/CURRENT EXPERIENCE, PROVIDES OPPORTUNITY FOR MAXIMUM CREATIVITY & GROWTH, and finallly PAYS THEM WHAT THEY WANT TO BE PAID!

Sounds simple...but it requires effort and partnership!!!

I look forward to the coming months...more jobs...more great candidates...warm weather...the YANKEES and continuing to build our reputation as a premier provider of TALENT!

The folllowing is just a little old school hip-hop message to my so-called competitors...

"I CALL ALL THE SHOTS - RIP ALL THE SPOTS - ROCK ALL THE ROCKS - COP ALL THE DROPS...WHEN ALL THE BALLIN STOPS...10 YEARS FROM NOW, WE'LL STILL BE ON TOP!
